When heading to a warm or humid climate, your skin is more susceptible to breakouts so avoid heavy or highly concentrated vitamin C products, abrasive exfoliation, and photosensitizing ingredients. If traveling somewhere cold or at a higher elevation, you skin may become dehydrated so be sure to bring plenty of milk or cream based products.
However, while you may have your destination skincare figured out, there are several ways to avoid travel-triggered skin issues before, during and after a flight.
Before your flight, don't apply makeup because in combination with recycled air and elevation, skin is likely to lose its natural moisture. Instead, opt for a tinted moisturizer that covers imperfections without drying out skin. For extra care, bring a hydrating spray or cream on-board. Once landed, restore lost moisture with a salicylic acid-based cleanser and a vitamin-infused serum. We also suggest getting a professional facial post-flight which will dislodge any trapped oil and dead skin.
