How to create a great acne fighting cocktail - 2/25/2013 7:49:04 AM I do like this acne treatment gel because of it's balance of acne fighting acids and redness calming licorice and chamomile however i can't use it straight out of the bottle. It is very drying and irritating on it's own. I have combination/sinsitive skin with very small pores. I get occasional breakouts, blind pimples are my enemy and my skin scars easily. Years ago I discovered Bio-Oil at my local drug store and about 3 years ago I began tinkering with various skin care products in my bathroom to see how I could tailor a solution for my combination + aging skin. I'm 37 now and am constantly complimented on my complexion. I'll keep this review just for how to battle annoying acne breakouts: Use equal parts of Murad Acne Gel, Bio-Oil and ProActive's repairing treatment (the smaller white bottle). Mix just enough of each to treat your face,( i do this in my hand) and apply to your face avoiding the eyes of course. I use enough to leave my face feeling damp. I only use this combination when I see a pimple or two pop up and I only do it at night. By the following morning, the difference is amazing. I also add Bio Oil to my BB Cream or my favorite SPF 30 moisturizer if just going to the gym and you'll find in time that just adding this little bit here and there will pay off huge in your skins appearance.

Best zit preventer ever - 8/3/2012 6:17:27 PM A friend recommended this prior to my wedding to prevent break outs. Thou I had pretty good skin, I would get a cystic type zit on my chin almost once every few weeks. This prevents that, and really keeps those zits away without creating an over dried flaky red cracked look that those drying gels do. I have been using it for 10 years and love it. I fought zits for 20 years before discovering it.

Irritating - 11/29/2011 6:39:03 PM This product will irritate and dry your skin. It dries it out and causes even more issues. Perhaps if you experience cystic acne this product will be more effective, but if you have an occasional breakout or are normal or sensitive skin type, do not use this. I also would not recommend the Murad cleanser, moisturizer, or spot treatment because they are all drying (yes, even the "moisturizer", which is essentially water). These products, including the exfoliating acne treatment, will strip your skin and disrupt the PH balance, causing more acne and skin issues such as dryness, irritation and even more oiliness.

Super Drying and Not Effective - 11/1/2011 5:56:54 PM Cleanser: Really foamy and harsh. This cleanser does get your skin "squeaky clean", but skin is not meant to be stripped and that is what this kit does. Exfoliating Acne Gel: Very harsh, will dry skin out completely. I had to stop using this because my skin couldn't handle it anymore. Lotion: Super lightweight, not very moisturizing and does not counteract the drying properties of the other products. Spot Treatment: Somewhat works. Like the other products, it is very drying and doesn't really 'zap' the pimple to be less red and less noticeable. It really dries out the skin around the blemish, too. After the blemish is flattened, it leaves a very red hyperpigmentation spot. Overall, this kit is not very effective because it seems to target drying out the skin and not addressing the issues of acne causing bacteria. It is full of salicylic acid, which is a good exfoliator, but that doesn't address the bacteria or underlying causes (like hormone fluctuation). I would highly recommend using a nice, balanced cleanser (like Purity Made Simple or Kate Somerville's Gentle wash) and a lightweight lotion treatment (like philosophy's All Over Acne Treatment or Clinique's Clearing Moisturizer), and a nice moisturizer (Kate Somerville's oil-free moisturizer is great). Murad's kit will derail your skin's natural ability to heal itself and cause increased oil production along with irritation and more breakouts.

Amazing Mattifying Primer - 12/30/2010 8:34:31 AM I have tried many many mattifying primers. I have dry hormonal skin that tends to become oily mid day. This product does not make your skin feel slippery like other primers out there that contain silicone. Other primers also can dry out your skin and cause flaking. This one has a nice uniform tint that goes on easily, absorbs quickly and gives a nice base coverage. My makeup stays on longer throughout the day and my skin never looks oily!! All this is exactly what a mattifying primer should do!! Give it a try.....it beats all the silicone products out there!

I could use it as a shower gel for my body as it leaves your skin feeling so smooth. I did not try on my face. I didn't have to moisturize after and no greasy feel.Great if you have dry skin,as it saves time as no need for extra moisture after done shaving.

Great Product - 4/19/2010 1:02:57 PM This is a good cover up stick as well as an acne medication combined! I love this product because it lasts a long time and blends well with my skin tone. I have light eyes and hair and the light color tone is perfect for me even during the summer time when I am more tan. It is not a heavy coverage, as I do not use heavy coverage products or make up, so if you are looking for a full coverage concealer this may not be your best choice, however if you are like me and where light makeup and have a few breakouts that you would like to heal and conceal at the same time this is for you!
