Caudalie was founded in 1995 by Mathilde Thomas and her husband Bertrand. Inspired by the vines on their family property in Bordeaux, they found effective molecules that could keep people looking younger longer and began using them to create natural skin care products. For more than 15 years, they have researched and collaborated with Dr. Vercauteren from the University of Pharmacy of Bordeaux, a world-renowned specialist of the vine. It is thanks to this innovative research and word of mouth that Caudalie has become the leading anti-aging brand in French Pharmacies.

In September of 1999, Caudalie revolutionized the spa world when they introduced the first-ever Vinotherapie Spa in the heart of the Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte vineyard (Bordeaux, France), harnessing the untapped, restorative power of grapes and grapeseed polyphenols. The Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa became a renowned destination with treatments and techniques developed exclusively for the spa. A second Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa debuted in the Rioja region of Spain and was designed by acclaimed architect Frank Gehry, followed by Les Etangs de Corot in Versailles. In October 2008 came the opening of the first and only Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa in the United States, at the iconic New York hotel, The Plaza.
